Samsung External Hard Disk. Do you always feel lack of store capacity? Look at a solution that Samsung offered at this time: an external hard disk with a capacity of 2TB. This is approximately equivalent to half a million of MP3 files, 560 thousands of digital photo files, or 880 hours of video clips with high resolution. Isn’t it cool?
Beside that, this external hard disk, named Story Station Plus, also has eSATA connector (external serialATA) for higher speed of data transfer. Please do not worry, because the USB 2.0 connection remains available. But of course, it is much faster to use eSATA which is capable of delivering 3GBps than USB 2.0 which provides a maximum data transfer of 480Mbps, is it?
What else is interesting in this 3.5″Samsung external hard disk? One of the answers is its aluminum outer casing that was designed to save power; it is reported that it can reduce standby power until 96%, to only 0.1 Watts, compared to conventional models that consume 2.5W. This low-standby power consumption is in accordance with the demands of the European Union EuP (Energy Using Products) Directive for standby regulation that will be applied start on next January.
Another feature is the installation of Samsung Auto Backup software, SecretZone, for private data encryption, and also SafetyKey, for password protection. STORY Station Plus which is three-year limited guarantee is offered at a price of US$ 299 for 2TB version and will be available on late November. Except of the 2TB versions, 1TB model is also available with similar features.
