Do you like to watch videos on YouTube? If the option of “high-quality” video-streaming which is currently provided there, namely 720p, still less satisfy you, please thrilled because video-streaming services are now ready to provide the higher quality streaming up to 1080p resolution .

The presence of high-quality impressions on YouTube was first introduced at NewTeeVee event in 2007. At that time Steven Chen, the founder of YouTube, said that the service stores all the received video at resolution level that were uploaded by users. So when YouTube add the resolution, they only need to re-encode the video for the new player, instead of asking for a new raw content.

It is reported, so far, about half of 1080p contents that are available on YouTube’s database have been re-encoding. But, it’s only about 10% of the playback in YouTube is a high-quality player. It is caused by many users who, either because the hardware used or the bandwidth limitations, get difficulty in enjoying these high quality impressions. Moreover, Youtube is also receiving more and more content from mobile devices. Even for this year, mobile upload activity increased to 2000%!
